Hi, I’m crystal brown-thompson, LPC, CCTP, nCC.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sewanee: The University of the South. I went on to complete my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. I have practiced therapy at various levels of treatment; from residential treatment, to partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, as well as general outpatient therapy. I’m a licensed therapist in the states of Georgia and Florida, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I believe in the importance of understanding how all parts of your wellness (i.e. mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, social, etc) intersect and affect one another so that you can reach an optimal level of well-being; because what you’ve experienced doesn’t just affect one part of you, it affects all of you. My mission as your therapist is to help you figure out where and why there is a disconnect within you, then learn how to reconnect with yourself and create a greater sense of wholeness through healing.
My Approach
I tend to take an integrative approach to therapy. The flexibility with an integrative approach allows you as my client to get not just some of what you need, but all you need in our work together. If structure works best for you, we will set and maintain structure throughout our journey together that includes one specific therapy modality (from the list below), a specific agenda for each session, with homework assigned at the end of each session. However, sometimes life throws a curve ball and it can be necessary to pivot and adjust our plan to cater that. That being said, we can easily re-evaluate your needs and goals, then shift the approach and process of therapy for you. All of the interventions I use are from the modalities listed below:
